Newsflash: Kentucky Street Parlor Pickers shuck “Kentucky Street” from their name.
The popular Denver band The Kentucky Street Parlor Pickers have decided in an unprecedented move to drop The “Kentucky Street” from their name and heretofore shall be known simply as The Parlor Pickers.
This move came after numerous questions about the origins of the band. “Our little Josher is a simple midwest kid,” said David Mickelson, father of the bassist for the group, “and people kept asking me if he was from Kentucky.” Mickelson was obviously distraught during the interview and had to pause numerous times to hold back tears of anguish. “We are just so happy that my baby boy and his gang of misfits have decided to stop lying to people about where they are from,” Said Ruth Mickelson, as she clutched a faded baby picture of her now twenty-nine year-old son.
The Parlor Pickers’ spokesman, Kane Wilder was quoted as saying, “The Parlor Pickers never claimed any affiliation with Kentucky or the south. Their name was inspired by the fact that they (The Parlor Pickers) began playing in the parlor room of their Kentucky Street flat located in Denver, CO.
“I don’ care where it came from,” Chuck Thomas, father of guitarist Mark Thomas, said. “Heck, I don’t care if they are named Angels of Holy Perfection, nothing changes the fact that their music is still crap.” Thomas was too overwhelmed to continue any interviews.
The Pickin’ Post was unable to get a quote directly from any of the members of the band, but Wilder assures people, ” Though their name has shortened, nothing about the group has changed at all. The boys in the group want that to be very clear.”
The Post will keep everyone updated with any further developments in The Parlor Pickers name change fiasco.
